No, I am liable because its my event. I up my liability insurance just to throw these so if I get sued I don't lose my shirt. Look into the night tourney where the guys got killed on Candlewood. The Tourney guys weren't even at fault but everyone involved is getting sued. You just have to cover your ass that's all. |

It's the spirit of the thing,...
We are supposed to be following all rules and regulations of the tournament as well as the lake. If people speed on a particular lake then they are breaking the rules,...however the question arises of how you're ever going to prove it. Since Chuck doesn't have a radar gun or anything, it would just be one guy's word against another.
However if someone actually gets a ticket,..then it is clearly documented that they have broken the rules and it should be treated as a DQ,..just like if they got caught breaking any of the other rules that have been set up for the contest.

Its nice to see somebody that runs a tourny , is thinking. I see all these little Bass clubs having these tournies with no insurance, Are you crazy, the people that have tournies are liable for ANY accident, you could lose everything you own and then some, If youre club is BASS affiliated, they have an insurance policy that will insure your event for a good amount, but really not enough, all tourny anglers should have a seperate policy for your boat besides your homeowners,Its cheap enough. |

You know, I never even considered the liability aspect for a tourney director,...thankfully nothing ever happened at the ones I ran. Also, it unfortunately makes me extremely uninterested in running any in the future!
Question: Couldn't you just have the entrants sign a waiver for the guy running the tourney saying that they will not hold him liable for the actions of others? I guess that wouldn't cover accidents involving anyone that's not IN the tourney,..but I think it would would have to help somewhat! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

wow, that is crazy that the tourny director is liable for the actions of others. How much does insurance run? _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

Chuck, I'd suggest that you get a lawyer to help you with the wording on the waiver also! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

There are other ways of dealing with people who sue for stupid reasons.
No lawyers taking everybodys money.
I will be in for as many of these as I can make. I can help at the scales as well _________________ GET HOOKED! tm |

Not dealing with that zoo on a weekend. Let all the big tourney trails have those. I have a few weekday ones planned. |
