|

Hello everyone. I am just getting back into a total fishing nut after about a year and a half off. had some other priorities to take care of. I have been a fan of Power Pro and have it all spooled up the question is I recieved a New Tsunami Tournamant 8"6" 3 piece Rod for Christmas and an OKUMA Epxihor Reel to go with it. Does anyone have any new New's on better lines than Power Pro Braided? I would immagine in a year and a half someone has come up with a better line more abraision resistant less wind knotting and better knotting abilities. Any one have suggestions. Cost is not so much a factor here for line as I just want a great line for this Rod and Reel i plan on hitting it hard this spring and summer and fall.

I know PowerPro themselves have gotten better. _________________ 6.5' Penn Long Beach with a Penn 330Gti for deep sea

The favorite braids with most folks are still powerpro and stren, although I've heard a few good things also now about suffix braid as well. All of them still are prone to wrapping the tip on windy days and cut easily on rocks though!
I don't know what kind of fishing you do,..but if you want a great fluorocarbon (which does not have those braid-issues) try the new Trilene 100% fluoro. _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

i can't stand power pro. I prefer suffix or diawa samurai if I have extra money. You can't beat suffix though. Samurai braid braid cast a mile and has a lot of good qualities but it is expensive as hell and I found that it doesn't last as long as suffix. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

|
|
Thanks for the feed back I am going with Sufix have a suggestion on Power Pro that works. I won't take it off my reel because of cost. an old timer told me to spray it with WD40 and wouldn't you know it it took a lot of the problems. away knotting curling ect. But for the new setup its definetly going to be Sufix.. thanks again _________________ My Rod is in pieces just waiting to be played with. |

Tacklemaker, I would use a line conditioner like Blakemore line cond. instead of WD40.
WD40 is petroleum based, and has a strong fish offensive scent, and I believe blakemore's line conditioner is not petroleum based, and is unscented, besides it's better for the environment too. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

Growing up we used to spray WD40 on nightcrawlers and catch twice as many bullheads than the original tasting nightcrawlers.... _________________ 6.5' Penn Long Beach with a Penn 330Gti for deep sea

I never tried it. but I have caugt plenty of stripers with the Power Pro line that has a little squirt on the line it didn't seem to effect them. However, I think the enviromental impact might not be good. hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmm something to surf the web about. _________________ My Rod is in pieces just waiting to be played with. |

I personally wouldn't use it but I have seen people on numerous occasions squirt on their jigs/plugs and catch fish. It always make me chuckle. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.
