I've never tried them before but have been contemplating whether to give it a shot.

Are you seeing any blow ups yet if so you should also try a scum frog or another weedless top water. Talk to site member Dusty about that. He is the local FROG lure expert.

Those Houdini's are a great bait,..they have more action than other soft jerkbaits like superflukes and finSfish,..and they actually shimy when they fall like senkos! It is a bait where the color seems pretty important in my experience. Some days they prefer something shad/shiner colored (white, silver etc..) then other days they won't touch that but they're all over watermelon or something!

As far as fishing them goes,..I always fish them T-rigged and weightless,..just toss them in and around cover with either a twitch-pause-twitch/twitch-pause retrieve,..or sometimes twitch them a few times and then just let them fall and dead stick them. Vary the speeds and pauses,..some days it needs to be fast,..other days slow,..other days it needs to just sit there for a while without doing anything!

Aother tip, especially if you're fishing in lily pads or other heavy cover,..use a drop of super glue on the offset part of your hook to keep the nose of the bait in place!

Like Mark said use some superglue or try using those hooks with the extreme bend in the hooks which prevents baits from riding up the hook shank. Gamakatsu, Owner, and now Zoom makes them strictly for that type of fishing.
