Fished a club tournament on Candlewood yesterday. Stupid weathermen said nothing about rain when I looked the day before, so it was a somewhat miserable day with cold rain almost all day. Planned on going for smallmouth all day. The fishing was slow, had 5 bites all day and only managed to get 4 of them in the boat for just under 12 pounds...of course the one I missed was the largest one. Fished primarily 18 to 27 fow. Without getting a bite for a few hours, I changed tactics and decided to go flipping. Weed beds are primarily slimmed over and the Sherman arm has turned so the water is dirty brown.

Almost time to break out the snow suits and live bait for a smallmouth bonanza.

I was shocked when I saw the rain in the morning. I had plans on going to the berlin fair with the family but due to the rain, the wife dragged us to the mall Crying or Very sad

Anyway, nice job.

So almost a 3 pound average isn't bad. Too bad the last fish didn't make it into the boat. Were the fish you caught lmb or smb?

They were all smallmouth.

Frustrating thing was the one that got away jumped the first time and spit up a bunch of crayfish and my brother said, 'Oh, that sucks, he spit the bait'. It was the next jump about 15 feet from the boat that he spit the bait.
