The launch is......well it's a one of a kind. It's a little tricky, more so if its windy.
The last time I went there we caught tons of fish. You should do well there. just take your time on the launch |

Extremely clear lake. Being able to see rocks and trees in twenty feet of water is common place. With that said, the fish will be able to see you too. Long casts, flourocarbon line, dropshotting and shakey head style baits all have worked well there. For some reason I've always done well there with soft plastics in a black and blue combination. Good luck and post a report. |

the lake is no longer clear, it has been dirty since late last fall and hasn't cleared up. |

Chumley ,
In the past Bashan was "gin" clear. you could see the bottom in 15, every rock piece of grass, twig, pebble, fish, etc. Now you can still see but It is no clearer than most lakes in Ct, last summer it was clearer than twin, I have no doubt that it was the clearest lake in Ct. Something happened last fall and the lake has not been the same since, I am still hopeful that it will clear up. |

I find it had to believe that someone who hasn't fished a lake in over a year is going to talk about something he cannot substantiate. i left the other site because of all the BS and people on here just can't seem to get over their own ego's to realize they may be wrong. I live 5 minutes from the lake and fish it regularly. there is no doubt that it has changed |

I agree Dave, I used to fun fish Bashan many years ago, and for the past 15 years, I've mostly done tournaments. Ther are not too many tournaments on Bashan, but I did fish there last year in a late season tournament. I do have to agree that the lake was definately much more stained than it used to be. I don't think the bass mind much though, and I think it only helps the angler. The bass will not be able to see you coming before he see's your bait now.
I think it is due to the lack of weed growth in CT in general. Weeds filter silt and help collect algae, which feeds the bait and keeps the water cleaner. I and others have noticed a definate decline in weed growth in many if not most of CT lakes over the past 4 years or more, I think this has contributed to the algae growth. I may be way off on this, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |
