I tend to use a lot of my vacation time by taking half-days off from time to time in order to go fishing. Sometimes if the bite is off I end up feeling like I've just wasted the time and should've stayed in work instead,......well yestarday was NOT one of those days!!
I got to Quonipaug at around 1:30 and pulled out my usual rods for that lake, which consist of a heavy jig,..a T-rigged worm and a dropshot rig. I began throwing the jig and basically never touched the other two rods for the rest of the afternoon! I quit around 5 because the rowing teams and the sun were both out by then and the bite appeared to be dying. Still, I managed 8 bass while the getting was good and the best 5 went a little over 20 lbs!
Pics of the best ones,..3.75, 4.0 & 6.75!!

It's funny because it also had totally different color than the smaller ones. Don't know whether it's just that it was old & grey,...or maybe it was just a deepwater critter that didn't hang around in the greenery.....
I did catch it off the cliff wall, so maybe it was that color to blend in better against the rocks.... _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

i really need to learn how to jig fish. I caught my first fish on a jig in the early spring. I pick it up now and then but never get any bites. I suck. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

I'm with you on that one Bass Addict. I think I can count all my jig fish on one hand but I still keep trying hoping to figure out the mystery some day. |
