What a day on highland, cloudy and overcast to start, as Hanna pushed northward and away. Then turning sunny and breezy, downright gusty at times.
water temp: 71 to 74 degrees
water clarity: pretty clear on the main lake to stained in sucker cove
air temp: 75 to 85 degrees, although it seemed cooler with the wind
1st place: Pointing dog and Myself with 13lbs. 8oz., anchored by my 5lb. 11 oz. lunker of the year(Pointing dog will post pic when he can get to it)
2nd place: 10lbs. 1 oz Ron and Greg
3rd place: 8lbs. 2oz. Mike and Rich
4th place: Steve K. and partner 8lbs. even
All in all a good day, most boats caught fish. I believe there were 4 - 5 fish limits, and nobody zeroed. Most fish were caught shallow (2 to 10 feet) from what I gathered at the weigh in. Most fish were caught on senkos, and jigs. some caught on rattle traps, spinnerbaits and worms.
All but one of our fish was caught on a texas rigged weighted senko, and that 2lb. smallie came unbuttoned at the boat, but we made up for that loss about an hour later.
I can't tell you the crazy story about the 5 - 11 largemouth, because it would give away the location it was caught at, but it was as dramatic as they come, and I cant believe the line didn't break. I did everything I could to loose that fish, including almost leaving my partner on the structure with the net in hand, as I worked the fish out of the cover and did not communicate it to him in time. It was histeracal to see it all happen. Congrats to the winners, on a job well done on this blustery day.

I'm not good with names, I won't remember them until I've been around them alot.
It took me 3 seasons to remember your partners first name, and it is the same as yours.
Nobody ever said you have to be smart to catch big fish..........
At least I got the weights right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'll edit the names, sorry again...... _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

We fish all over Nick, we meet at Hooters on the Berlin Tpke., usually the end of November or early December, and pick lakes and dates for next season, as well as give out trophies for the top 3 teams in points, and lunker of the year. When we decide on a date, I'll let you know. Nick if you have access to a fax machine, I'll fax you over this years remaining tourney schedule. PM me with the #. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |

Pd Yeah, I'm at work early, that way I get out of here early too.
Thanks for the congrats guys, I'm still living off the high. It's been about 8 years since I caught my personal best, a 5 lb. 14 oz. largemouth from Mansfield Hollow. This was an almost identical fish, with a much more dramatic landing than the first, one I will always remember. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |
