Hello everyone. I'm a new user and have been waiting for about a week for my account to be activated (not a complaint...I've just been chomping at the bit to log in and chat). Anyway, I've fished all my life but am relatively new to bass fishing and just bought my first boat in July. I've been out a bunch to Moodus, Batterson, and Crystal Lake and have caught a few decent fish at all three.
Yesterday I hit Rainbow Reservoir for the first time and had a ball. I caught 5. 4 LMB and a smallie. The smallie was probably about a pound, and the four largemouth were between 1.5 and 4Lbs. It was a great day, and I wish I fished more, but I was really there to try to put another hour or two on my motor to get it broken in. All fish were found around laydowns in varying depths. Caught the smallie flipping a submerged tree with a Reaction Innovations Sweat Beaver. He nailed it about 3 feet down. First largemouth came the same way on the same structure. Depth was 18-20 feet, but the fish were suspended up high. Last three LMB came from another laydown spanning the bank to 14'. Caught two on a Senko, one weigted, one not, and the other was on a Reaction Innovations Flirt worm rigged for shallow dropshot (but it was taken before it got to the bottom, so I think that one would have hit anything). |

Thanks!. I would love to fish a tourney. It would be my first! I've been around a lot of them, but never in one. Thanks for the heads up. |

Guilty as charged. I was once a rabid fan, seeing them 44 times in 14 states, including the last two shows in Coventry, VT. In my youth...in my youth.... |

There are, but they've been stingy since about mid July. Only ones I've caught since then were small and buried in the junk. Flipping. Caught one off a worm by the dam, but there's not much moving over there right now. Mark a lot of fish in the deeper water, but can't seem to get them to hit the dropshot. I look forward to some cooler weather, but now that I realized Rainbow is just as close to my house, I think Batterson may not see the bottom of my boat for a little while... |

"relatively new to bass fishing " Brother, you hit all the right buzzwords in your opening post. You have either been doing a lot of studying or you are quick to learn. Either way, great report and welcome to the site. |

Definitely a lot of "studying." I'm lucky that my job puts me in position to learn a lot. Putting it into practice is really what I'm new at. Just started using a bait caster, for instance... |
