again, trying to fish new water and hit a pond near mill pond from 7:15 - 8:45am. you can see it from i95 and it is real tough to get too... no fishing from shore and slid my kayak in on a steep embankment.
again, fished the remaining sides in and around the weeds with worms and sluggos. and i even fished one entire shoreline with a jig...one missed bite.
again, picked up 7 lmb with 2 going ~2lbs. not sure why 7 is a common number but it always seems like around that time i am back where i started and it is a good time to stop...
next stop, tbd. any suggestions? i see some water behind the old saybrook high school and again just before the rte 82 exit going north on rte 9 some water through the trees on the right. |

Nice job,...I think that pond you're talking about is right near my house. I believe it's an old quarry pond. I've fished it from shore a few times with a few 2-lbers and I suspect that there may be some bigger fish as well.
As far as the one in back of the HS goes,..I'd cross it off your list,...I'm pretty sure it's brackish water in there!
How about Messershmidt? You've probably been there before,..but I don't recall any reports. It's rumored that there's some very large bass in there too! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

yup, looks like an old quarry. almost spooky being that there is no one around... i'll go back again and fish it deeper.
messerschmidt's is a great pond but has been i only go there when i have very limited time (since it is the closest to my house). it's been slow this year for me but i have caught a 4+ lbr in there a couple years back. |
