SkeeterRon and I went to Rainbow Monday morning to try our luck. This was my first time there where Ron has been there before. Got on the water around 7:30ish and had the whole place to ourselves. Water was around 68 and stain color with bluebird skies. Would have liked some overcast skies but can't have everything. The lure of choice for the day was a weighted watermelon tube which I used and Ron used a wacky rigged worm same color I believe. Hit all the downed trees and rock piles along the shore and there were plenty of them. Started our own little tourney and had constant action from 8:00 to about 12:45 while missing abunch of little ones. I was winning in quantity and quality when Ron caught his last one with like 15 minutes left, a nice 2-2.5 lber which was good compared to what was being caught that day. After catching his lunker my cunning oponent decides to gun the trolling motor throttle to high while making our way back toward the launch just to make sure I didn't catch anything else. Sneaky bastard!! Final tally......I had 6 cookie cutter size and Ron had his lunker plus 5 bass so I bought him lunch. Good thing I was nice enough to not enforce the 12" minimum because the rest of his fish were lure size. Wink Nice fishing with a buddy, I'll give you that one. Very Happy

True, and I win 99% of the time. This was the 1% percent where you got lucky and won. Very Happy Your arms were hurting from you pounding on the boat because up until that last catch you were losing just about the whole time out! Wink

Johnny knows what I'm talking about. Very Happy Thanks guys, it definitely felt good to get out after having to work almost every weekend for awhile. The smallmouth action was great, not very big fish but for their size they sure put up a good fight. I figured I'd be a good buddy and let Ron win one every now and then. Wink Thanks for the trip buddy!
