I Stayed at a friends lake house on beach pond for the weekend. I fished from about 4pm-11pm on saturday and 730am to 4 on sunday. I was only able to manage a 1 smallmouth weighing in at a little over a pound. I caught it on a 3/4 ounce smoke colored jig with a gary yamamoto twin tailed grub trailer. The fish came off a rock pile in about 10-12ft of water. Fishing was extremely slow!!! Every boat that passed by seemed to have the same story......... very little or no action at all. I fished way too long for only one fish but there was one positive though.......the one bass that I did manage to get was my FIRST EVER on a jig and pig. Usually when I tie on a jig all i catch is a whirlwind of frustration. This time it finally resulted in a fish..... and I did it using the tips given to me on this site. Thanks CTFISHTALK.

Congrats and keep at it Basstard! That first one is always the ice breaker. Like Mark (Just4fun) has already proven to me the jig bites are usually more quality fish caught than on any other bait.

Thanks guys. Yeah, there definitely seems to be alot of big fish on this site taken by the jig. All the dudes on this site hoisting 5lbers and bigger made me realize that it would be in my best interest to start throwing the jig. You can bet Ill be back at it again this weekend.
