hit the muck at 6:30am and fished until noon. no tournaments today and that was suprising. pretty much had pick of the liter so off to a hump it was.
from the time we pulled up from the time we left that hump two hours later we were into fish. unfortunatly not all of them were largemouth. there must be some kind of pickeral infestation going on there!!!!! i took 4 LARGE pickeral off one hump today. usually north pond is where the slimedarts live. we cuaght 6 pickeral today and didnt have to be in north pond to do it!!!! never in my life have i caught so many out of middle. sure had us tricked a few times today. thought at first we had found some good largemouth. not the case.
on a good note we did find some decent largies out there also. we had limit of solid fish by 8:30. we moved off into south pond. something i dont do much.
noticed the water was a deep green over there. didnt boost my confidence as i never do to well on this side. we were going to my "spot" and this "spot" would produce another 1/2 DZ largies mostly solide keeper fish with a few shorts thrown in. the bit started to slow down by 10:00 and the pleasure traffic wasnt bad so off to another middle pond hump we went. we were able to put another few fish in the boat. including lunker of the day a 3.5lb largie. all in all not a bad 5 hours fishing. fish came on drop shots with differant types of baits.
left at 12:30 to head to the casino. good day and it just reminds me everytime i go there how much i miss having the muck as my back yard. on a good note it is nice to be able to go back time after time and find fish.

also noticed TONS of bait fish out there this morning. one pod was being stirred up really good not far from us. had the bait flip flopping out of the water.
pretty cool to see. did throw some baits at them but nothing was interested.

Hoppy,

Good times at the Muck!! Sounds like you had a good day! Every once in a while I would catch a BIG pickerel out on the hump in middle pond. They are there and when you do catch 1 it's a good fish.

Man I miss the Muck! The lakes down in SC are ok, but nothing like the quantity and quality of C-mond. Consider yourself lucky!

I did fish today, from 7-12 a.m. The sun is brutal and I couldn't take it past 12. I did catch some good bass on a shakey head worm and a nice 1 on a crankbait.

Hoppy,

Must be hard not having C-mond in the back yard! I had seen somewhere that you had moved over by the Suffield-Enfield bridge area. Did you buy a house?

I am SO glad that I moved when I did. I could have NEVER had a house like I have back in CT for the $$ that I paid. Would have ended up with a 1950's house on a 1/4 acre lot. With the prices the way they are in CT, I don't know how some people are making it.

There is only 1 lake that has smallmouth near me. Lake Monticello is a small, 7500 acres! that's small down here. The lake is a nuclear power plant lake and they dug out the lake bottom to use to put the nuke plant on. Some spots in the lake are over 100ft deep. I have seen 7lbers come out of there, few and far between though.

The other lakes are just too warm to support smallies. I had a T a few weeks ago and the air temp was 104! the water was 91.

Bob
