Hit the reservoir yesterday for a while with a buddy of mine and my little cousin out on the canoe. Rain held off for about 45 mins. During that time we each caught a bass, all cookie cutters nothing special. Also hooked into a pretty small crappie. All things caught on senkos/sluggos. Finally the lightning hit right above us and we went in. Took our rods into the car and flipped the canoe over near the boat launch so we could wait out the passing storm.
Turns out this passing storm wasn't so passing.... Stupidly we decided to listen to the radio WITHOUT starting the car. Shortly thereafter the battery on the car dies!!! what a trip... Rain slowed down and we headed back out for more... Cousin caught another half poundish bass and the water was so glassy it looked perfect. Well it was perfect for about 15 mins and then started POURING, like jesus was draining his tub on top of us! Not to mention the lightning surrounding us on all sides hah. Decided to call it a day and headed back in..

Bummer....

Nice job, I went there with my kid to see the water around 6:15ish and left pretty quickly when I heard some thunder cracking.

I have been fishing that place for at least 18 years and never caught a callico bass there. I wonder if some angler recently introduced them to the lake. Thats good news though.

Thats what a buddy of mine said, he said as little as 5 years ago he never caught any... The place is crawling with em now. They town recently cleared the weeds out so you can catch em on spinners and spin tailed grubs every other cast. When you stumble upon a school of em its quite tough to not hook into em.

Well i told em not to try to start it again so we wouldnt drain the battery any more than it was. When we came back for the second time the motor turned over thank god. We were still soaked and morally ruined at that point tho hahah.

I got a couple pics of some pigs i caught there that im trying to put on my profile i just gotta shrink em cuz theyre over 20 Kb.

Crappies where introduced (not by me) about 15 years ago from the CT river. There are some big ones in there. I fished it on the 28th of June last week and got a decent 4lber on the dropshot and my buddy got his twin on a Berkeley weighless black rubber worm. Also caught an assortment of other bass from 10" up to 2lbs. Not a bad day for there at the end of June.
