Long Pond surrendered some decent fish in the 2+ pound range. Most boats had a full limit of fish, a couple boats only had 1 or 2 fish.

Conditions
water temp: 72-74 degrees
air temps about 65 to 70
Overcast all day, with periods of rain, and a 2 hour AM block with heavy rain
water: clear with a very dark bottom

Winning weight : 9lbs. 14 oz.
Second place : 8lbs. 10 oz.
Third place : 8lbs. 8oz.
Fourth place : 7lbs. 4 oz. (myself & partner)
Lunker was a high 2 or maybe just over 3lbs., not sure ?

Most fish were caught shallow down to 10 feet of water. Most fish were caught on Tubes, topwaters, and Texas and wacky rigged senko's. Fish were relating to coontail and not to docks or laydowns, as there was no sun. Many big pickeral were caught, as well as a 1lb. sunfish. There is also a large bloated deer carcass floating to the right of the launch in the thick lilli pads, hey the snapping turtles need to eat too.

Good numbers on a lake that reportedly can be very stingy.

Marc, you should buy this DEP-book,..it tells you everything you need to know about the places to fish in CT:

http://www.ctdepstore.com/product.sc?categoryId=4&productId=235

(Every fisherman in CT should own a copy! Wink )

Marc, I agree with Mark, this book is invalueable, it is a must have for fishing almost any body of water in the state of CT. It gives you depth contours, fish species per lake, thermocline guidelines, directions to the launch, etc. It helped me when I got serious about bass fishing many years ago, and I still use it from time to time to find information on an unfamiliar lake. I sometimes make photo copies and bring them to the lake during tournaments, so I don't trash the actual book should it rain or get wet somehow.
