Stopped by Pataconk Lake with my kayak on the way home from work yestarday. The action was pretty consistent for the 3 hours that I was there. I ended up with 8 bass and 2 pickeral. Everything was caught on either a dropshot finesse worm or a small black/blue jig & trailer. The best fish was this one, which went 4.25 on the boga and it is also my best bass of the season so far!
(Sorry for the mug-shot but it was the best I could do at arms length with a camera-phone!)

Nice job Mark. Pattaconk can be very peaceful at this time of the year. We never pulled anything over 3lbs out of there but it always seemed like it had potential.
If you really want to feel like you are away from civilization, go a little futher down the road and drop the yak into Turkey Hill Res. |

Where is that Mark,..I've never heard of it?
Stumpy,..in the yak,..I'm slightly reclining and holding my arm up to fish,.. so heavier tackle gets tiring very quickly for me. As a result I'm sticking with lighter spinning gear on the kayak. The jig is 1/4 ounce and in order to fish it effectively in lily pads etc,. I'm using 30# braid with a long (10 foot) leader made of 15-17# fluoro! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

That would be fun, at least until the authorities show up! Not sure when it happened but for years now its been off limits water company property.
Other than that nice fishing. That place does hold some real good fish. Gimme a ring if you ever need a photographer, I'm right down the road! |

"Where is that Mark,..I've never heard of it? " I give you the keys to the kingdom and you go and lock yourself out! LOL!!!
For everyone who asked, Turkey Hill Res is not an actual resevoir but a body of water fairly deep inside **********************. It may have been a resevoir at sometime but I doubt it as the deepest spot is probably only 12 feet.
I just remembered that this is a public board, so if anyone on who is a member here want the directions or how I locate certain bodies of water just PM me. I will also send the info to Mark "Just4fun" and Largefry so they can PM you if they are comfortable with who you are.
Sorry, but this was a very nice lake back in the 70's, 80's & early 90's until the bucket brigades took over and did a terrible job of puttin a hurtin on the lake.
Sorry if I put anyone out. Mark |
