Started at 8am on a small pond in mansfield near the hollow that we usually crush fish on with no luck eccept for about a 5 in LM on a 5 in sinko...and a bull frog on a 4 in senko that prolly weighed more than the bass...decided the day had not handed us our a** enough so we headed to halls pond which is in ashford I think... ....thought the day there was gonna be good cause we came up on two 3 1/2 pound fish on beds that I thought we could entice...after 45 minutes and everything in my tackle bag I realized it was hopeless. Got one small bass that was full of eggs from under a log....then as we were headed back to the lauch we found a sunkin log and my friend (snakebite) hooked a chunky 3 pound fish on about a 12 inch ribbon tail worm....yes it had got that bad....we finished at around 5pm.
Ps...Do fish bite heavy on a post spawn? the first pond we went to had schools of 3/4 inch bass fry everywhere so they had to have been spawned out there already. |

Immediately after spawnning,..fish are generally not too interested in your baits and are tough to catch. It takes them about 1-2 weeks to get back to "normal" afterward!
Note: Not every bass in the lake will spawn at exactly the same time,..so you can still usually get some to bite,..just fewer of them than normal! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."
