big boat is down again so i set out on foot yesterday afternoon.
went across the dam and down to the old bridge. hooked a 1lber on the way down, thought it was going to be a great day but...fished for several hours and walked farther than anyone has in long time at this lake. no path, very small and very grown in openings in the woods.after getting plenty of exercise and nothing but a couple of rat slime darts i deceided to try the bridge again. tied a imatation senko weedless/weightless
first cast i hook up and its a good one, it jumps, and its "A GREAT ONE" its taken drag as fast as i can reel it thought for sure id lose it in the pads but luckily after what seems like a lifetime she tires and i get her on shore !
i have no scale or measuring tool but this fish went very near 2 of my own feet (which in shoe is about 12")fist in mouth no problem easily in my top three largies, had to go more than 7lbs, and i cant belive i did it in that puddle. ive been fishing there since it was impounded and i dont think ive ever caught anything over 3.5 or 4lbs. |
