Took my usual weekday after-work trip over to Crystal Lake yesterday. Wind was blowing harder than I expected; I was anticipating a calm evening. Had the "big" boat (15') and drifted around from ~5:45 to 8:15. Water temps ranged 60-63.
It was my best day of the year so far. I caught a 3lbs. 3oz and a ~2.5lbs LMB, ~2lbs smallie, and lost a ~1lbs LMB when he jumped a few times. I caught all of my fish on a 1/4oz shaky head setup with a roboworm.
It was a fun night. They might get a little less fun out there as it is almost wavepool season. |

Nice job shorty. I'm guessing you were on the back side opposite the boat launch. I don't go there too often as the boaters and the parking lot can get pretty crazy during the weekend. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

Hey, I was there last night in the orange Coleman canoe... I had my two sisters and the girlfriend.... she caught a nice LG about 15" Kinda skinny but long, I'm guessing a male
Just fishing for sunnies with worms we dug up and I heard the drag screaming, turned around and told her to crank it up, then a nice bass jumps out of the water and much to my surprise she had the biggest fish I've ever seen in Crystal lake. She buried the hook in the cartilage in his lip....he wasn't going anywhere.
Some 13 year olds caught a trout on the other side of the bridge that looked pretty nice.
Just a nice evening to get out there _________________ 6.5' Penn Long Beach with a Penn 330Gti for deep sea

SkeeterJim - yeah, I was across from the launch. I don't have a trolling motor so I drift with the wind. That day I was drifting North. I go a lot because it's under 10 minutes from my house. It does get a little busy when the weather gets nice.
chuckc - I'm hoping to hook into a few more of them.. this is definitely a start.
WishinIWasFishin - Small world - I believe you pulled up next to me at the end of the night. I was by myself in the old blue/white Thunderbird boat. Definitely a nice evening to be out, although that much wind with a canoe can certainly be tough! |

Nice job Shorty & Wishin,
I went their twice and each time some jet skier would always come within feet of the boat.
That's the time I wish I had my paint ball gun. on me.
Haven't been back since. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |

ron there are no jet ski's allowed on crystal lake. i've grown up around crystal my whole life and i don't recall a time in the last 20 years that you have been able to have jet ski's on there. |

Next level's right. I saw someone get ticketed last year for putting a jet ski in also.
That said, I've taken some awfully close passes by ski boats. |

I stand corrected.
I was thinking of Coventry Lake. Not sure why but I always get those two mixed up..
Coventry Lake is a rough place to fish.
Sorry for the mixed up, Brain fart. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |
