I went out to silver lake in meridan yesterday. I got on the water at 5:30ishPM. It was choppy as hell. I was really only there to break in my new motor. Anyway, I went right to my favorite spot and caught a bass on my first cast - about 1.5lber. Second cast I caught a 6" pickerel. A couple more cast and I land a 2.5lb LM. I go for another cast and landed my bait in a tree - lost my bait:(. The wind was so bad I gave up and just cruised around the lake in the chop. All fish were caught on a minnow colored jerk bait - suspending.

Nice job,..you did better than me!
I went to Moodus late yestarday afternoon and went fishless tossing a jerkbait and a jig for about an hour before I gave up,..the wind and cold was just no fun! Very difficult to stay connected to your bait and still fish them slow enough! Sad

Bass,

I was on my way to Silver yesterday at 4pm with the jon boat. I stopped to get a coffee and the wind was unreal and I said to myself " I must be nutz" and turned around and went home.

I'm glad you did as well as you did. Now I'm thinking I should have gone.. Embarassed

Good job bud.

Ron, I only fished for 15 minutes and even that was miserable. I really just wanted to cruise around with my new motor. I would have continued fishing my hot spot but I did something really stupid.

I had 2 lengths of rope in my boat both the same rope just one was cut. I had a short rope that I use to secure my wench and the another rope which is about 40' long I intended on using it for my anchor. My anchor was brand new so I had to tie rope to it. After catching my 3 fish I decided I need to anchor as the wind was way to strong. I grab the long rope and toss the anchor only to realized that it was tied to the 3' foot length - bye bye anchor. I just threw 50$ away. Twisted Evil

That's funny,

Well next time you go back try and get it back using a weighted treble hook, it's not that deep.

I got one better, first time I started fishing in my old tracker I backed it in pulled it to shore. I went to park the truck and ran back to a boat that was half full of water.

I forgot to put the plug in.

"I forgot to put the plug in." lol, i would bet at least 95% of boaters have done that at least once. That can really suck.

Sorry to hear about your anchor although it must have been funny as hell! Too bad you didn't have an awesome day at Silver, at least it would have lessened the pain a little on throwing $50.00 overboard.

Bass,

I blew off work today and went to Silver Lake, Weather was great not to windy.

I caught one LMB around 1 pound and an anchor. Threw the fish back and kept the anchor.

It's for sale on Ebay.

haha, went back today and saw my anchor on the bottom of the lake with the rope floating straight up. My buddy leaned to 1 side of the boat as I reached down and grabbed it. I feel complete again. Now can spend my money on more tackle.

Silver was packed today 4/10; it almost seemed like there was a tournament going on. There had to b @ least 8 boats and 5 kayak's.

Some guy had a brand new 20' skeeter that looked like he never boated in his life. The lake was dead calm around six and he had his motor trimmed so that the bow was straight up and he was bouncing like he was in 5' seas. Then when putting it back on the trailer he raised the motor completely out of the water and was gassing it trying to figure out why his boat wasn't moving. I was yelling to him to trim it down . I saw his prop spinning out of water while he revved the hell out of it - I hope he didn't f it up. He had a beautiful boat with a nice vmax yamaha.

I ended up catching a half pound bass and my buddy caught a 3.5 pic and a half pound bass. My buddy towed my boat as my wife had my truck so I also caught a buzz Razz

Bass,

Dude!!! That was me with my new Skeeter... I wasn't use to it and a little nervous in front of everyone watching me..

NOT

Thanks for the call, it would have been nice to be invited.

I'm just messing with ya. I remember when I had my first "real" boat and I did some stupid stuff.

Well I'm glad you got your anchor back, it wasn't selling on Ebay so I put it back where I found it. Good job on the fish.

Ron, I wouldn't subject you to the wretched conditions of my boat.
