Does going to Florida count and catching a 12lb LMB on a 1 foot pond shiner or whatever they call them down there. _________________ The King of Long Island Sound. |

ramp, where do you fish in wethersfield? The res is becoming a sess pool and the cove is hit or miss. The res used to be great. I just stopped by there today and there was 5 boats on the water. Way to much traffic for a 50 acre plus lake. I think I am done with that lake which sux cause it is only a mile away from my house.
Nick, you and J4F are the jig masters and you got the fish/pics to prove it. I really hate jig fishing as I suck at it but I found the chatter bait to be a decent alternative. I can actually catch fish on it _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

There's a res in Wethersfield we fished and...nothing. We blame it on the wind and cold!
Like Nick said, "its only April" and he arleady caught more fish than most ppl do in a lifetime!
Ramp, we need to hit some spots up either tomorrow or this upcoming week, the low looks like its going to be 40+... so we wont be shakin w/ cold. |

The res is getting bad, way over fished. They need some regulations there to get the place back on track. For one it should be catch and release only. Secondly, they need to stock that place to compensate for the increase in popularity in the last 10 years. And finally, they need to hire someone who knows how to treat the weed problem - they always use to much of the weed killing chemicals and they kill a lot of fish. Every time they treat the weeds you will see floaters for weeks after. It is to bad.
Bassruten, I like your name. You do MMA or just a fan of the sport? _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

It is on off thornbush ave which off the pike going toward wethersfield. I will hit the pond pre spawn and then I am done till August when the frog bite picks up. I almost feel like dredging it and buying bass to stock the that lake myself - if only i had the cash. DEP needs to help that place out bad - rules, regs and restocking yearly. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

Should I invest on a fish finder? |

Bass Addict,
Your right about the res.... If you went by between one and four, I was one of those boats you saw. That place does get alot of pressure for such a small pond. Every spot I wanted to hit already had a boat on it. I miss the days when there was good chance you would have the whole place to yourself. It was still fun none the less. Ended up catching one that went about 3-1/2lbs. |
