I have proof.
Pond 1
Headed out with a positive attitude at 10 30. Little 8 acre pond I hit alot in the summer- I can work it quickly, catch 5+ 2lb largemouth and have some fun with pads/jign pig.
The bite was non existant. Worked it for an hour and a half and decided to make a move- tyler called and we went to have lunch and hit another pond.
Pond 2
I knew there were good fish in this pond and Ive been waiting for 2 weeks for the access gate to open. Its a bit difficult to get a boat in, alot harder to get it out.
This place is shallow. Less then 5-6feet at the deepest and mostly 3fow. Went around with a houdini shad and hit 2 fish pretty quickly. The first was a 2lber and the second was a 4 6 that I watched eat the houdini in 3fow a few feet from the boat. Lots of fun on a light rod. Long fish.
Tyler hit 4 or 5 largies on a minus one, several on back to back casts, and he wound up getting one that I dropped on a houdini shad, literally the fish I just had on. No size unfortunately.
We went back down the windy shore, I saw some brush I wanted to toss the bico too and sure enough on the second cast I feel a tick and I yank m,y first 6lber ever out cover. 6 1 and full of Piss and vinegar. This fish fought well and actually head shook while going airborne.
I catch another scrappy 2lber on a bico in some nasty viney submerged brush.
Pond 3
A six wasnt enough. We gambled and made a hike with the boat and gear a few football fields away. We only had another 2hours including a difficult haul back to the truck.
First brushy laydown we come to looks great.
Second toss in and I hit another chunky 2lber. I love this time of year and the jig. Can put some big bags in the boat.
We come to a beautiful tree in 8fow, it looks great. First cast I get bit and set the hook- miss the fish but she got the tail of the otter instead of a hook wound.
I rig up a new otter and fire right back in. Tick. FISH ON. Its pulling like crazy and were watching the fight in crystal clear water. Took some drag and headshook like it was summer. Im screaming at tyler to grab it and he finally does. I cand believe the girth on this fish.
Goes between 7 0 and 7 3. Got her back in the water as quick as possible. HUGE mouth on this fish. :salute: :salute: Cant get much better then that.
I toss tyler a jerkbait and tell him he HAS to catch a bass on it. Well I was right, he got one.
Great day on the water, thanks for the help tyler, always a ball fishing with ya- you will get a monster if you keep tossing that jig.

Just an awesome day Nick,..great job & congrats!! Also, you sure got a good friend there,... to help you haul your rig in and out of the water to multiple places on the same day like that!! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

Nice fishing!
Hey all!
Im new to the forums.
I've been trying to hit some spots in the area, but nothing is bitting! Took my Jon out and still nothing, maybe it was because the heavy winds lately.
Im a noob to early season fishing, should i be using a fish finder? And Nick...are u using mostly jigs and/or swim baits? Any help would be greatly appreciated ... |

Awesome job Nick, congrats!! Ya gotta tell Tyler to hold his fish out at arms length toward the camera so that it will at least look a little bigger!
Keep those posts and pics coming Nick. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

Thanks guys, as alot of you know- i put a ton of time in on the water and sometimes thigns work out and it pays off.
Mostly tossing the jig so far this year.
6 4lbers on a jig
1 5lber on a jig
1 5lber on a swimbait
1 6 on a jig
1 7 on a jig
And its the begining of april.
Caught a 4 on a crankbait early season and quite a few 3's on the jig.
Made at least 16-18trips out in the boat.
The jig n pig is most likely the best lure ever made. Half of my fish have been from two underfished lakes while most of the 4's are out HEAVILY fished local lakes. |
