Me and my buddy went to this little pond by my aunts house today. The fishing wasn't the greatest only because every time we walked up to the shore we ended up spoking the bass sunning themselves. We ended up only getting one bass about 12 inches but throught the whole time we were there we must have saw about four or five bass sunning themselves that weighed at least three and a half to four pounds! We did great there last year I just hope that we do just as good this year. |

same thing happened to me yesterday. I went to a local pond and saw about 30 bass from 1-4lbs schooled up near the bank. I approached slowly so I wouldn't spook them. I was throw a grub right through the school - they would chase it but wouldn't bite. After 2 hours of trying I landed 1 2lber. If I had live bait I probably would have killed them. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

Shame shame shame bass anglers thinking that those swirls were left by bass when in reality the sun fish were schooling near shore!!!
I am thinking more and more about picking up some minnows and heading out, I have only caught 4 bass this year and I am losing my mind...
No patience for mother nature I guess _________________

"Shame shame shame bass anglers thinking that those swirls were left by bass when in reality the sun fish were schooling near shore!!!"
umm, no, the water was crystal clear and the fish averaged between 12 - 24", they had the black stripe down the side and blackish tails. I been bass fishing for 28 years now and so I know the difference between a 4" sunny and a school of bass but thanks for your rude, know it all comment. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

Those bass are spooky as sin. Only luck ive had is a trigged senko wieghtless and casting from as far away as possible and trying to to land it on shore and work it into the water. These fish are ridiculously hard to catch when there sunbathing in the shallows. |

Like Nick said, these bass that are sunning themselves are extremely spooky because they are wide open in shallow water. That to bass equates to danger from predators especially from above in the form of predatory birds such as eagles, hawks and storks. You can be sure they are on their guard out in the open like that. As Nick said try casting as far away as possible and work the bait into the water from shore. Try a lot of shoreline parallel casting and be very stealthy because they will usually see you long before you see them. Good luck! _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

Don't feel bad b/c it's 4 more fish than I've caught this year. Btwn spending about 4hrs on the thames and about 6hrs at candlewood on sunday, i'm about ready to hang up the bass gear for a few weeks b/c I can't take being skunked again _________________ Work is for guys that don't know how to fish. |

Head down to the New Haven area, Stripers are being caught with some regularity on bucktails , grubs and bait. _________________ The King of Long Island Sound. |
