I found a pond in the woods while riding my dirtbike last year and only fished it once last fall resulting in some sunnies and a 8" LMB. So I thought I'd give it a shot this week while I was home on Spring Break but got nothing. The pond was flooded and I never know how to adjust for higher waters...any ideas? There were some nice sandy spots that I couldn't understand why fish were not all over, maybe the water was still too cold?
I really have no idea what you are supposed to do when the shore is now 6ft closer than it is in the summer....

usually when ponds flood the fish will go up real shallow looking for food. Try fishing the shallow water with a light jig or a super fluke. |

The fish are oportunistic feeders,..so when the water floods stuff that used to be high and dry,... a lot of "buggy critters" get displaced and that starts a whole food-chain thing for the fish that will move up into those areas looking to feed as long as the water stays high.
My favorite bait for that is a 4" T-rigged senko, which can be twitched like a jerkbait or just inched along or even dead-sticked depending on what the fish want. Also the fish are often easy to spook when they are up that shallow so try to stay as far away from where you're fishing as possible and don't be afraid to throw your bait right up into the bushes or onto dry land and then drag it back into the water, because that's exactly where the fish will be looking! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

I agree with Mark (Just4fun) & Chuckc, however to play it safe give me directions to the pond and I'll check it out for you.
