SeaDog...
Yeah it's MUCH TO COLD! But, as you said early next week is gonna be proper with the potential for ice to form over the weekend.
I went out yesterday to check the ice on this small local pond and it was only 2", maybe 2.5" in it's thickest spot...so clearly I did not go ice fishing as planned.
Stay safe and warm everyone! _________________ Keep 'em hooked and get 'em in the boat! |

Hi Guys!
It's not the temperature that bothers me -> It's the WIND!
Cold temps is easy to handle -> BUT WIND !@#$%
Have had to deal with wind all my career at sea.
Example:
Was 600 miles east of Cape Cod (Oct. 1991) -> Yes! The REAL PERFECT STORM! -> Captain, 193 ft. ship, 38 crew, down to 1 engine (6 kts.) and rode out 80 to 100 ft seas for 2 days.
Brought ship and crew home SAFETLY -> Bruised and Battered but SAFE
I can wait for Monday when temps are a bit higher and winds are down
Best regards,

Hi Austin!
Was an Oceanographic Vessel!
Can't talk about it as we were doing work for the US Navy!

wow seadog, it is quite evident from your post that you have a lot of knowledge, but I didn't realize you are career captain. If you ever get the time and feel up to it, post some stories in the general section about your adventures. I am sure you have a ton and I know I would be interested in reading. That must be one hell of a job. Glad you and your crew made it out of the perfect storm alive, that must have been one stressful voyage. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.
