perfect hook set

sat in the cold today with a friend
fished a small pond from shore
we tried jigs i used my winter swimbait
we tried rattle traos and senkos
we had gotten one hit each on the senko
in the end this was the result of 2 - 3 hours in the cold

we just tried it out because we had rigged it the same way in the past and picked up some crappie..
went back for about 20min today maybe 30min had nothing
it was brutal out

which bobber would you recommend for this? i seen on a demostration video a guy using this crappie rig to nail bass in cold water. I forgot what the name and style bobber he used, but basically it stayed on its side once he cast it out and it hit the water. When the jig went as far as it could go the bobber sat upright. He even counted how long it took for the jig to go down at its desired depth and it took 6 seconds. He said the point to counting it down was if it took 2 or 3 seconds for that bobber to sit upright, that would indicate to him that a fish took it on the drop and he said set the hook. I want to do this at halls pond soon, so i can nail some crappie |

Billy's dad caught a 13 inch largemouth bass at Konolds Pond on a crappie rig today. He was using a stick bobber and a tiny 1/8 ounce jig.

Hi!
My favorite Crappie rig is using a Slip Bobber.
Here's the rig I use!
Put on 2 upper rubber slip bobber stops on line 1st
Next very small bead.
Slip Bobber (different types and sizes - Your choice)
Another very small bead or split shot
Tie on hook or Crappie jig
Set upper stops to depth you want hook or jig at -> Adjust as necessary once you get into Crappies.
Bait hook with small shiner - Jig with small piece of worm.
Cast rig out with a high lobbing motion.
Note: Small 1" chemical light stick can be attached to bobber for night fishing.
