Bass Addict was nice enough to take me out yesterday after work to White Oaks Cove. We launched outta wethersfield cove around 5pm. They had this huuuge barge with a big crane on it that was clearing out the entrance to the river of fallen trees and other crap which was kinda cool to see.
I had never fished White Oaks before so i wasnt really sure what to rig up. I started off by throwing a white spinner and missed a small taker, probably a crappie. We hit the back shore and made our way around the coast where there was some excellent structure. It didnt take long for me to pull out a dink on a smoke grey senko. Throughout the trip, we caught somewhere between 7-8 fish, mostly LMB and Bass Addict hit up a decent size smallie, not bad for only bein out for around 2 hours. He was pretty long but skinny SOB. The mosquitos were pretty damn bad but thats expected in ANY cove off that dirty river hahah. Most fish were caught on senkos of various colors and I hooked onto a little guy with a black/pearl sluggo.
Sorry I forgot to check the water temp, but wind was minimal, pretty glassy water. Addict missed a little blowup with a popper. We also saw an ENORMOUS blowup a little bit before we left. It must have been a carp, i didnt get a good look at it. Strange enough, I caught a few of the bass on the retrieve of the senko, doesnt happen to me often.
All in all, it was a solid trip. Thanks for takin me out B.A., would do it again any time. And thanks for returning my phone that I left in your truck hahah. _________________ Screw work....I wanna fish

Nice fishing. The only time I fished that cove I was skunked and we fished for everything with live bait to boot.
If the bass are hitting the senko on the retreive try a moving bait like a spinnerbait/crankbait. If that doesn't produce maybe a soft or hard jerkbait worked quickly with some pauses. Like the sluggo you got one on, but I prefer the action of superflukes. |

nice report pdcrack. for the record I only caught 2 and pd hit 6. I blame the my lack of catching on being the driver and ensuring my guest got good angles to cast .
ME, give the place another try - their is a ton of fish in there now. I have gone there about 4 times in a row and have done well.
We caught the end of the incomming tide and fished slack high tide. I didn't really pay attention to the water temp as I was watching pdcrack catching fish left and right.
PD, my boat is listed on craigslist and I have gotten a ton of calls so she may be gone this weekend. If not, we will definitely get out there again soon. _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

I actually have used the superflukes, didnt even think to try em, ive been killing it with that black/pearl sluggo lately, but I have some pearl superflukes that have definitely produced some nice fish. I was probably too lazy to look through my tackle and tie one on _________________ Screw work....I wanna fish

Nice job guys. Next time alittle bit of mosquito repellant should make it a bit more bearable. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

Ron, the wife is due in November. Not to mention the boat and trailer had some issues that I didn't have the patients or the time to fix. I sold her on Saturday.
If you ever need a fishing partner - I will pay for the fuel:) _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.
