Dear newbie,
I have read those reports of yours -> And the fishing part ... where fine !
Its your's and NEF's outlandish ice and Wx predictions that are so off base ..... and that is the problem !!!!
You don't drive and daddy has to take you out to go fishing so you pass on Secondhand ice info and as (for both of you) your Wx predictions ......OMG !
By the way -> Isn't it nice that may of the older ice fishing hands on IS recently posted 1st hand ice observations (both good and bad) after this rain we had.
What happend to you and NEF -> Your Crystal Ball get broken or did you and NEF forget to pay the cable bill to Wizard World !
Hope you both have a Great Day tomorrow at Tyler !

Anybody go out and check today? I am all the way southeast and we have no ice on most lakes and a skim on some. Drove out to Red Cedar and Gardner and they were both not safe, although Gardner had about an inch and Red Cedar was basically nothing but had a skim over the whole thing.
The Day paper had a picture of 2 guys on Pachaug yesterday anyone been there recently? |

SeaDog1 | Alright Seadog, im seriously done with you. First you insult me by saying i have no clue what im talking about and that i have no clue how to fish. Then you say i never have reported a 1st hand ice report. I've gone out about 12-15 times this year, i've reported for majoirity of those times the day i went, how much ice there what, what i caught and things like that because i like helping other out. As for you, you said youve fished three times this season so why the fuck are you ranking on me? All you do is drive to places look at the ice and go "yeah probably 4 inches better tell everyone on IS and CFT its not safe". I heard you once told a guy there was no ice on winchester and the guy brought his boat to do some fishing only to find several inches of ice with people fishing all over it. "Daddy has to take me out to go fishing", I enjoy fishing very much infact ive invested thousands of dollars into my equipment with my own money that ive worked hard for. Im 15 i have a job and i dont have a car, why i dont have a car is because im freaking 15. No shit my dad has to drive me to places. I've had my brother friends who are 18 and 19 ask me to go fishing with them because they dont know what to do. You should really be ashamed of yourself. You're trying to trash talk another fisherman whos less than half of your age. Then you use these stupid comics and act like a smart ass to me. From all the posts, messages, and thing like that ive seen from you i realized that you are the most immature adult i have seen. I havent done anything to you, i don't insult you, i don't trash talk you, i've even given you props for a few ideas you have shared. I treat people how i would like to be respected as for you, you treat everyone like dirt. Also you try to bully IceFishingNewbie because his name has "newbie" in it and you immediately assume he has no clue what hes doing and is just an annoying kid. Then once all the mature adults on here tell you to lay off you go onto me probably because you got angry i said the ice will be fine after the rain. Well guess what seadog, the rain actually helped Tyler lake with its ice. The week before i went on tyler there was 5inches of whitish ice and an inch or two of snow on top. This weekend Theres 10-12 inches of pure black ice. The wind destroyed the snow and the rain that covered on top refroze during the night making more ice like i said. I dont know where you get this idea that im using a crystal ball to predict ice thickness on certain lakes. I know what im talking about and if i didnt, i wouldnt of said it. You and your annoying attitude seadog can go scratch. _________________ YouTube Channel: NorthEastFisherman |

Hi NEF,
Right now I don't have the time to play with you !
My younger brother had a heart attack and I'm up here in Massachusetts.
Glad you had a good day fishing at Tyler.

I agree with NEF on this one. SeaDog1 reported Highland had lots of pooled water and bad edges. I went yesterday and it had strong edges and 10 inches on solid ice. NEF said the ice would be fine and he was right. I will look for NEF's advice over Seadog's from now on. Age doesn't matter in the first place. I have won tournaments and i'm only 17. One of the best fisherman I know is only 13. I could care less that NEF is only 15. He knows what he's talking about! |

I will agree Seadog tends to be over cautious. But his Highland report was on Wednesday, so yes it was probably dead on. We had 3 nites of below freezing temps after that report. The guys who put time on the ice understand Seadogs reports and plan their trips accordingly. |

Hi,
Just got back home from seeing my brother -> He had a mild heart attack and wiil spend another day or 2 in the hospital.
Cheech ! .... I really don't think you guys read the posts properly or check the date(s) they where written
SaTP -> You are so wrong !
If you read my post and check the date ...It was made the very next day, after the heavy rain warm temps and it was "ACCURATE"
Thursday night the temps dropped dramaticly and the ice started to re-freeze and heal itself Friday .... and by Saturday morning it had become reliable again.
SO ....NEF's 1st hand observation was accurate for Saturday ONLY !
Now NEF -> is 15 and doesn't drive -> can't make the round of waters as I do -> Doesn't take 1st Hand, on site ice observations or measurements -> makes ice thickness assumtions and conditions, and passes on Secondhand info.
Lots of other fishermen, all over the internet + CTFT, posted 1st hand ice conditions the day after the rain at various waters and reflected the same conditions as I found !
I said "NOTHING - NOTHING !" of NEF's prowness as a fishermen -> His fish reports are perfectly fine !
REPEAT -> His fishing reports are fine !
It's his continued Secondhand ice condition assumptions and long range Wx reports that are the problems !
As one other fisherman said of NEF's Wx prediction (Long range Wx predictions are junk - Enough said !) - This I agree with because the best that can be predicted is in the 7-10 day period. There are too many variables beyond that short period.
NOTE: All weather reports all over the country originate from NOAA National Weather Service -> As a certificated professional meteorologist ....That is the only service I trust for "real time accurate WX".
They also are the primary agency that has and operates Wx satellites for the US and monitors Wx all around the world.
The Weather Channel, Accuweather, and all other weather reporting services across the nation get their info 1st from NOAA !
I also use only USGS services to get stream and river flows because they are the only one that has flow gages all across the country which monitors water flow 24/7 .
Nothing like going to the primary agencies "horses mouth" to get your 1st hand Wx and water flow reports.
As a professional I won't use anything else to get my Wx info from
SaTP -> You are fully welcome to chose and rely? on NEF's assumed ice and Wx reports or you can trust in those fishermen (including me) that have and do make the effort to provide our fellow fishermen with accurate 1st hand, on site, observations and measurements.
Just make sure you read the posts and the date they where made !
So my suggestion to all, and especially you younger fellows, is to go to the NOAA site(s) and National Weather Service for Wx info and the USGS for water flow info.
It's a simple matter of educating one's self to where you get the most accurate trusted 1st hand knowledge from.
As I have admitted -> I passed on 3 years ago Secondhand ice info from someone I trusted and it was Wrong and I made a public apology for that error in judgement.
I will Never do that again
Oh ! -> FYI: If anyone thinks I tend to be over cautious ... You are dead wrong !
As with any situation that involves risk and potential loss of life .... I learned and was taught to "ALWAYS" consider things from "WORST CASE SENARIO" and work downwards.
Police, Firemen, Pilots, Mariners, Miners, Loggers, Truckers, Doctors, etc., etc. All work from that bench mark ...and so should all ice fishermen because we all know No Ice is ever Safe
Stay Safe !
Best regards,

Hi Allan,
Thank you very much about my brother.
Yes ! It was quite a scare.
As for sad -> I have to disagree with you.
I live very close to many of the waters that many ice fishermen like to go to.
Some though have to travel some distant to get here and that can get expensive.
I make my reports to provide 1st hand accurate ice observations and measurements as a "personal favor" to my fellow fishermen so they can make their own decision(s) as to what to do.
"Anyone" ... pumping out Secondhand ice condition info does a great dis-service to their fellow fishermen and possibly may cause someone to take an un-necessary risk based on that Secondhand info.
I will never do that ...ever !
It will always be ones individual decision to take a risk or not, but being forwarned with good 1st hand info is to be better prepared !
Best regards,
