Hi Guys!

Well ice fishing on all the trout lakes and ponds here in Ct. ends Feb. 28th.
Except for those that have a special 1 trout a day over 16 inches limit till the end of March.
All the non trout ponds and lakes will still be open for pan fish.

I happen to have gotten my Massachusetts non-resident Lic. (Which is less than a regular Ct. resident Lic.) and Ma. has "No Closed Season" on any fish.
VERY NICE Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation
Because I'm less then 20 minutes from the border -> I'll be able to hit the ponds and lakes up there for trout, salmon, pike, etc.

With all this thick ice we have (Which I belive will hold till near the end of March) are most of you guys going to continue to fish or put your gear away for the season?

Just asking Exclamation

Best regards,

Just waiting for the ice on West Hill to melt so I can start trolling. Going to repaint my canoe, get my tin can ready, get all my line on my reels, and over spring break make a new ice fishing box, and make new flags for my tip ups. Going to fish Bantam friday, saturday, and sunday up in North Bay to end my season. Maybe hit the parts of the Farmington that are open till April 1. Usually March is when I organize all my tackle, scope out new ponds, and start feeding largemouths jerk baits... Laughing

I'm praying for warmth and sun, maybe with enough of that the ice will be gone sooner than we think. I have my mass license as well, you ever fish webster lake SEADOG? I love that place,it's only a 20min drive for me and I'm a bass guy of course and they got smallies and largies. I fished there this past fall about 3 times a week, and had great results almost every outing.

I've heard a lot about trout fishing being good there as well and i've caught some really nice pike there too. I guess they stocked tiger muskies there back in the 90's i believe, so there's gotta be some of them in there as well.

I will just fish all my small non-stocked lakes...you always have to have reserve honey holes when feb 28th hits.

I'll be on Lower Bolton Lake as soon as I can get my boat together.

Candlewood and Squantz remain open until March 31. Limit one trout at least 16 inches. Bantam is open but no Pike. Lillinonah is open. You have to check each lake or pond in the fishing guide.

I don't know basswacka, I don't ice fish, and I haven't driven past the lake since last month. I figure by the end of March I'll be on the water there for sure.

I make alot of my own lures. This time of year, I smelt (not the fish) down a bunch of lead, and make my own bass jigs, and saltwater jigs for fluke, and stripers; and if needed, bank sinkers and what not. we even make 50cal muzzleloader ammo.
I also spend some time tweaking the bassboat, or getting the WellCraft ready for her seasonal dunk in slip 14.

If and when the ice is off the river, I target pike. or hit the non-stocked bass ponds with some new fresh jigs.
This is also the best time of year to get to NH and let the beagles loose on some snowshoe hares, as that season runs to the end of March.
In between all that, Im a dad, and my twin girls take up alot of time doing some of the stuff mentioned above, plus all the rest of the time...and I wouldnt have it any other way.
