Hello Everyone
I would like to go for blues early morning tomorrow and have no idea where
should i try. I have a 16 ft modified V with a 45 hp outboard.I wouldn't mind fishing from the shore either.New to this state i need any advice i could get.NOT looking for anyone's honey hole.
The plan is to get some frozen bait and sand/blood worms and fish the bottom.
Regards
Steve

This is certainly no honey hole, but I pulled 15 hard fighting blues in 2 hours out of silversands in Milford on Wednesday. I am actually going to go back down today for the falling tide. Not sure if you have ever been there but there is a jetty that leads out to charles island (submerged at high tide) that you can walk out on and cast into the sandbar. When I was there I was throwing a bucktail with an uncle josh's trailer and then switched it up to a home made surface popper. I probably could have thrown anything out there and hooked a bluefish. It would be a great spot for your boat also. I always see boats around the island fishing for I think black sea bass (maybe) and tautog. Hope this helps you or anyone else.

Anyone got any good ways to cook up a bluefish? I have never tried to eat them so I always throw them back, but I think I am going to keep some next time... hopefully today.

Roofman, the title of this topic is what I say a lot when the blues are out there.

Whether it be boat or shore, I'd be happy to get you into them and be your guide.

Are you located in the eastern or western Sound?

There's a few launches I know of around Bridgeport/New Haven, so feel free to send me a PM if you want me to be your guide.

No charge for silver sands. The only thing to consider is that if you are fishing before the park opens or past dusk, you can not park in the actual silver sands parking lot. Go down the street to the boardwalk and park all night long.

Best advice I can give for when to fish this area is to check out the website tides 4 fishing (sorry I can list the actual URL) and look up Gulf Beach (silver sands is not actually listed) and go when the fishing is predicted to be good. For example, I am going to hit this area tomorrow morning between 8 and 10, but the better time would be between 8 and 10 at night. (work always gets in the way)

As far as where on the jetty to go??? You just need to walk and cast to find them. Usually somewhere about half way.

When I was there last on Saturday, I pulled in 6 or 7 sea robins (annoying), 5 blues, 1 short striper and 1 short fluke all in the time that was predicted to be "hot" from the website I listed.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

Now we just have to wait for the state to re-open the park. I was halfway there this morning when I heard it was closed on the radio. I ended up going to Hammonasset instead and pulled one lonely sea robin from the jetty. ohh well... at least I had a pretty good nap on the beach while getting some sun.
