So we got down to saybrook about daylight. Raining and a north wind around 10-15 mph water was 73 at the bridge. we headed down along the DEP docks after looking for bunker.Trolling a 3 1/2" popper and a small quad rig (umbrella) set up with a bluefish kit, green tube. got a bunch of 1-3 lb blues and a couple schoolies along Great Island. went over to the break wall and found some bunker, I live lined right on the inside end of the wall but got no takers. the outside end had some birds working so we had to check it out. It was all shad jumping out of the water, which was 68 degrees.they looked to be feeding on tiny silversides we picked some up and went back near the docks and chunked and livelined picking up a couple bigger blues.
we left around 2 because of the boat traffic. All in all not a bad day.
Rich

You're are lucky you got your fishing hours in as the boat traffic is terrible on weekends. It makes for tough fishing and boat launching , at least the Baldwin Bridge ramp. About a week ago on a friday trying to get my boat back on to the trailer was a pain. There was a crowd of boats/vehicles on the ramp and a number tied to the docks or manuvering around. This was about noon and I guess the weekend crowd had arrived early. Luckily most everybody was well behaved. We now avoid Fridays and weekends.

Jeff and I snagged 20+ bunker there a few weeks back. We also caught some of the shad too! On that same day off of clinton we saw a tuna jump...must have ben a big one too. Just small blues 4 us that day. Can you take your boat to the hammock? Try there.
