Went out with Bob (NWDarkCloud) on Lake Mcdonough for the first time on Friday from 10-7.

Really nice lake. Crystal Clear water, clean, not much in the way of vegetation/structure. Great for swimming, tough for bass!

There are a lot of drop offs/humps that looked promising but its tough without depth finders to locate the underwater structure.

Most of the fish came from fishing downed trees with weightless soft plastics and drop shot rigs. I just know there are fish on those deep water points and humps but threw cranks and jigs but couldn't locate them.

I got a handful of small bass and my biggest pickerel that I "released" next to the boat. Also "released" a few bass in the same manner.

Bob got a "red eyed devil". That was the first time I've seen a rock bass in person. Those are some scary lookin little fish!

All in all a great day (besides the periods of blazing heat/direct sun). Highlight include:

Bob going in after a little bluegill swimbait that I "accidentally" flipped overboard because I was jealous of it ; )

Bob scouting a downed tree with a snorkel and mask for big bass. He said he saw mostly smaller ones but a nice smallie right under the boat! Didnt catch it though. Although Bob would have been my PB human, I didnt want to deal with getting the hooks out of him in the boat ; )

yes, yes. there is a lot of structure. Some steep drops and ledges that Im sure hold fish along with all the stuff we couldn't see (stumps, rock piles, humps etc)

And Bob wasn't really "swimming" he had to go in to retrieve the lure. He just looked at the tree while he was over there ; )

Well Like Mike said the bite was real hard friday hot weather and crystal clear waters made for a tough fish. But it was a great day nonetheless we started at the gate 10 am they opened 20 min late as they did last 2 times I was there a line had allready formed at the road makeing for a scetchy sit if you have a trailer the road being narrow and twisty and ppl whiping around the corners.
But after a little bit we got in paid our 6$ parking +6$ to launch fee waited for our inspection the ramp is well made and wide makeing for a easy off-load


the tupperware navy made it normal showing with about a dozen boats they off loaded fast and cleared the area before we had even primed the engine so off we went on a beautiful day.....



Mike hit bottom while I tryed everything shallow to mid range as we tryed to zero in on the lvl fish where hanging out. Gets realy hard to find fish without electronics that I lack on my boat sence it was stolen last year off my boat so it will be a while till I save enough pennys to replace it ..till then its all instinct and luck. Mike took the first fish a realy pig of a pickeral with a lip hook easyer to shake it off than deal with the teeth, little while after that mike hooked a nice healthy bass not huge, nice fish even though

time passes as it dose when you get 2 fisherman in a boat lot of laughs a little a** busting and a lot of fish braggin Mike manage to pull a few more little guys from time to time



mostly all on a dropshot rig.later that day we had a little mishap mike dropped 1 of my favorite sunfish raps in by accident no biggy poop happens while I was leaning over to try and hook it with my lure retreaver I slipped and fell in because we all know theres NO swimming except in swimming area so mike passed me my mask so I could find a big rock to climb back into the boat and just happen to find my lure wow whats the chance of that . The rest of the day went buy with no more incident Mike posted the fish I hooked from his camera 7:00 came around way to fast because the bite was just starting to get hot we loaded up and waved goodbye to another GREAT DAY!!!

I did see 1 smallie right under my boat following the shadow line something like 3-4 + range the tree I was aaaaa just passing by seeing i was looking to get out of the water fast (not swiming and all) but I did see a ton of rockies some monster bluegils and about 10 bass 10-12 in. range but no real monsters
