Fished for a couple of hours at Silver Lake in Berlin. We only brought lures and I never like doing that because I find live bait works better. We started off at the very beginning of the lake where it is sort of a miniature cove. One of my friend's quickly got a Black Crappie off of a plug. It was ok sized, I would say 12 inches. It was sort of slow after that but after about an hour, I got a bite off a Rapala Floating Minnow. I thought it was something good sized but was totally wrong. It was an 8 inch sunny. That thing put up a good fight considering its size. We then moved to another spot and me and my friend got 3 more sunfish. My other friend had what seemed like a good sized bass on a torpedo but lost it quickly. Overall a slow day with a bunch on sunnies and a crappie. But like I always saw, that's better than nothing! |

Is that place flooded with weeds? I was told this year is worse than last year. I know you are shore fishing, but more than 1/4 of the lake usually is visably filled. Frogs over those pads to the right of the launch is always fun. You should be able to reach them even from shore if you are using braid. Silver is a great topwater place, last year I hit more fish on topwater than not on topwater. _________________ Steve |

Went here a week or so ago for the first time aka the last time.
The amount of weeds in that place is ungodly. It's not my style of fishing at all. Don't get me wrong, I did well throwing under the hanging bushes and trees into 1 foot of shaded water along the shoreline, but when you see a shopping carriage in the middle of the lake, it's best if you enjoy the lake while you're on it and never return. Clearly no one cares about the health of the lake - it's only there to put your jetski or speedboat on to rip around the water.
I imagine there are some major fish in there however. |
