...all the storms have passed, sun peeking in and out...I arrived just as Ortiz hit a 2 run home run to make it 4-2 Jays in the first inning... water was pristene....no movement what so ever...some mist coming off the water....started at the spillway.. I used the scum frog first...mind you, there isn't any type of lilly pads or weeds or anything like that so I was just testing it, trying different techniques etc... I really like how it actully sinks slowly..and it doesn't take much for it to get back to the surface and its legs create good action.. When ever I use a top water like a spook or jitterbug, I get loops on my spinning reel...this was nice that I didn't get loops.. Same with the KVD Frog....good action with its skirt like tail. Again, no weeds to actually go over but the topwater capability and the smoothness of the casting. I casted into a tree, really thought I was going to lose this lure but I got out of it.. I kind of gave up and just tightened my drag to break the line and it came out!! I only use the rapala knot and 6lb test but I haven't had to break my line yet since I had Cabelas spool my reel!!
I did catch a nice sized pickerel on the ssr5 I bought today, the "original" color I guess it's called.
That's my report... oh, I may stop at battterson on way home tomorrow from work, there are weeds all near the shore now and I will test the frogs there.
have a good night. |
