Sunday I headed out to Twin Brooks Park and arrived around 12:15pm.
Made it a different route this time with the spots I hit.
Started off at the cove at the main pond. Played with the 6cm yellow perch Husky Jerk once again and caught 1 bass and 1 bluegill. Also tried throwing a 7cm perch Original Floater, 7cm perch Jointed, 8cm firetiger Flat Rap, and 7cm firetiger Clackin Minnow. Did lose a bass with the Clackin Minnow and caught one. All other lures had no interest.
I moved on to the shallow rocky area. Bluegills and redbreasts were the only ones I saw there and that followed any lures I threw. Missed out on 2 fish with the Husky Jerk before losing it while casting from the point by the rocks.
Headed over to the island and the smaller cove by the island. Missed out on a pickerel with a 6cm glass minnow Husky Jerk and had some small perch chasing it. Saw a nice crappie swim by but it had no interest. Tried throwing a few of those other Rapalas and also casted the maribu but no luck.
Next I went to where a small brook feeds into one of the smaller ponds. No luck there and nothing along the rest of that pond.
Last stop was the cove at the large pond where 2 brooks feed in. X-Rap Shad Shallow, 4cm silver shad Jointed Shad Rap, and 7cm perch Original Floater all saw no attention.
Went to the small pond that produces the bass. 7cm perch Jointed, 7cm perch Original Floater, and 8cm firetiger Flat Rap are what I stuck with there. Spent no more than an hour there and lost 2 bass and caught 1.
Final place was the private lake. 3 main lures there were a 6cm custom painted X-Rap Shad Shallow, 7cm firetiger Clackin Minnow, and 4cm silver shad Jointed Shad Rap. Nothing was interested in the X-Rap Shad Shallow, which I eventually got snagged on a tree. Hit 2 bass just over a pound with the Clackin Minnow. The Jointed Shad Rap didn't produce like it usually would, but still hit 1 largemouth, 2 perch, 2 bluegills, and 2 pumpkinseeds.
Hit the road around 7:15pm
One of the pumpkinseeds at the private lake was 8" and had a girth of 8 1/2" and gave a good fight. The other pumpkinseed had a bass grab it while reeling it in. When I saw the bass go for it, I stopped reeling, let the bass run with it, and then tried to set the hook. It took out some line but eventually spit the pumpkinseed and didn't have the hook set.
One of the bluegills was a healthy 8"er that fought well. All perch were throw backs. |

That's pretty cool with the bass grabbing the pumpkinseed. I've never had a fish grab a hooked fish. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
