Hit Hanover Pond this morning in Meriden in my kayak. I was there at the crack of dawn hoping for some topwater action. Nothing doing. I did manage to get 5 quality bass and a perch. And missed three other bass. Once the sun was up the bite died down and I left. All came on a zoom super fluke. There is an album here under mikejiggen in the photo gallery titled Hanover Pond 5-12-2012.

Nice fish. I love using top waters. They're one of my favorite lures for bass. _________________ -Bass me a beer.

Congrats on the nice bass! I have a question: Are there any good spots at Hanover Pond that are shore access? I don't have a boat and I'm usually in the area a few times a week. Any help with spots would really be appreciated. _________________ Going for that trophy fish! |

Most of the place is accessible from one parking lot or the other. One at habershon field and the other past the red bridge on the other side of the pond. _________________ Never give up! |

Very nice fish, where's the launch there? Might be a plan for tomorrow. |

The place is super shallow in the middle. Way better small boat canoe kayak spot then bass boat IMO _________________ Never give up! |

After reading the post about shore access i decided to give it a try today while my wife was baking with a friend (had to get out of the house lol.).
First off the place was disgusting. Trash everywhere, bottles and cans in the water, it was pretty bad. Im guessing that was just from the holiday weekend, but it was nasty.
First spot i hit was the first big tree to the left of the ramp and bam, 5 bass in like 30-45 minutes. 3 were small, under a pound, but the other two were solid. One about 2 lb the other pushing close to 3 lb. then i ran out of green/red speck senkos and barely got another bite all day. All in all it was nice, but the teash really threw me. |

It's usually not that bad with the trash but after any heavy rain it gets a lot of garbage floating down stream. I pick up what I can when I go (usually fill a shopping bag) but I'm only one guy. |

The place does tend to get trashed. I try to pick up what I see. Last year there was a mass cleanup effort but looks like people are back to not giving an F _________________ Never give up! |

It's a long holiday weekend so some mess was to be expected. Picking up what you see is a huge help. |
