If you have a yammie s/s prop beware, last nite my blew apart on the river taking some of my lower unit with it! Plus in the last week my buddy had TWO 27m props crack without hitting anything. My prop was apparently split below the surface. _________________ I love rippin on the river!

WOW!! Johnny, what size motor and how fast were you going (mph & rpm)? That is a scary thing to think about. Please provide the details as I am running a 225 HPDI on my Skeeter. Have you notified Reynolds Marine about this, if so are they doing anything to work with you on this? _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

Still boatless!!!!! The insurance co was bitchin about the cost of a new lower unit. I spoke to someone at yamaha and they siad that the s/s props are a thinner form of stainless which is why they run fast and also why the break apart. _________________ I love rippin on the river!

Johnny,
I'm sorry to hear this news.. It sounds like Yamaha didn't do enough testing before designing the prop for high speeds.
To be honest I'm a little concerned about the prop I have and SkeeterJim has a 225 just like you..
Hmmm not good news...
Well I hope they come to a resolution soon so you can back on the water..
Good Luck.. _________________ Sleep...Eat...Fish!!!!! Then do it all over again. |
