I decided to stick close to home, today, and arranged to fish Spring Pond with JJay (aka Jason) and his buddy, Vu. I asked my daughter whether she wanted to join us and she did. Very Happy When we arrived at the pond, the sky was completely clear, the air temperature was in the mid-50s, and there was just a slight breeze. We could see that Jason and Vu were already on the water:

Jason paddled his Future Beach Trophy 126 and Vu paddled the L.L. Bean Manatee Deluxe Solo Kayak, 10', that Jason just got for his girlfriend to use. We parked at my usual launching area near the culvert on the west shore, but it was blocked:

Goose Blocker? Really?!?! Just five feet to the left of the Goose Blocker, there was another, slightly smaller clear spot on the shore to launch our kayaks. Rolling Eyes When I was unloading our them, I almost stepped on a nice chain pickerel jointed Rapala lure:

My daughter and I got on the water at 10:15 am. The water was murky; we could see our white minnow jigs down only about three feet, even with full sun on the water. My daughter paddled my own Future Beach Trophy 126, La Calabaza, and I paddled my Hurricane Santee Sport 116, El Habañero. When we met up and talked with Jason and Vu. I proposed that the first person to boat a fish would get ice cream. Well, after catching two yellow perch but failing to boat them, my daughter finally boated her third:

Yes, she caught it with a Pearl Silver 2-1/2 inch Gulp! Minnow on a 1/16 ounce round jighead. Meanwhile, neither Jason, Vu nor I got so much as a nibble, although I snagged on laydowns a couple of times. And when I finally did get a nibble on my own minnow jig, it somehow spit the jig. And then my daughter caught it Rolling Eyes :

About an hour after my last snag, I checked my minnow jig and finally noticed that the tip of the hook on it had broken off:

No freakin' wonder I had lost that yellow perch! Mad I was fishing with a hookless jig! Embarassed After I tied on a new jighead, one with a hook this time, I finally boated a sunny:

A few casts later, I got another one. Jason and Vu headed off of the water at 1:10 pm. I think that they got skunked. By that time, the wind had risen a bit and it was warm, probably close to 70 degrees. I told my daughter that I would do one lap of the south cove, catch a largemouth bass and then we would get off of the water, too. I swapped out the minnow jig for a white 3/8 ounce Strike King Redeye spinnerbait and worked the shore. As I approached the spot where we had launched, I finally got a hit on it and yelled for my daughter to paddle over. I boated a nice, 17 inch, two pound 15 ounce largemouth bass:

Whoo hoo! My daughter was relieved that I caught it, because she had had her fill of fresh air and sunlight. By that time, the air temperature had risen to almost 70 degrees. We got off of the water at 1:45 pm. Although I did okay, today, my daughter outfished all of us. She caught six yellow perch, although she managed to boat only three of them. But she did boat the first fish. I gotta run, now. She wants to run over to Ben & Jerry's to get her ice cream! Very Happy

Almost didn't recognize you without the hat! Nice times with the family. That's awesome. I hope my kids will do the same.

I've been trying to even out the tan on my face. Laughing I stopped wearing my sunglasses to get rid of my reverse raccoon eyes and spent some time without my hat to darken up my forehead a little. However, my daughter says that my hands still look like dark mittens. . . . Embarassed
