Hello - I moved down to connecticut a few years ago from maine and have pretty much continued to fish up there until this year. I recently brought my boat down here for the summer with the intention of fishing for stripers in the rivers or shoreline (I have a 16 ft skiff). I have been out 4 or 5 times and have been skunked every time.
I went to a couple bait shops to get some reports and bait ideas but I cant seem to bring one in the boat. I've had more luck from shore. What the hell am I doing wrong?
Ive been fishing plastics mainly along the shoreline. I guess I'm not sure what to fish in this river. Im used to fishing the cover in the lakes in maine. Is that the idea in the river? I also tried sand worms with no luck either. I don't mind putting the time in but I would like to know if I am doing the right thing, or need to change my technique up. I am new to the site and not sure how willing people are to give up this info......but any help would be appreciated. I would also be up for partnering with someone to come out and show me the way. |

I'd also like to hear some advice, especially for shore fishing as I do not have a boat. |

I've seen guys trolling around for stripers in Hamburg Cove, but have yet to see them boat any. My understanding is that you should look for activity on the water, either bait or birds, and head over to the spot as quickly as possible. Or, if you're really lazy, look for other fishermen. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
