With the recent reports of stripers and bait, I decided to hit the discharge at Seaside Park in Bridgeport today starting around 1pm. High tide for Bridgeport was scheduled for 3:19pm.
I tried throwing a number of plugs and crankbaits with my schoolie setup but never got into any stripers. I was also surprised to not see any bait lurking around the rocks in the shallows.
I was also the only one out there when this time of the year you'd see a crowd. |

ive gotten 7 stripers up to 27" within 15 minutes from there since sunday.
THEY are around. Couple more degrees in water temp and they should be more abundant... _________________ Trust me. Use waxworms ! |

I have been using worms and other live bait to land mine. I have throw a couple of poppers in the areas I have been getting them on bait and had no luck. I think the water temps still have these guys a little sluggish.
I know these hits I have been getting haven't been the "take and run" I'm used to with bass, I have to time the set right. |

Back on April 4, 2010 I caught a total of 18 up to 25" with smaller plugs and crankbaits imitating shad and herring. Everybody else was staring at me with jealousy while getting nothing on the bottom.
9cm Rapala Shallow Shad Rap, 10cm Rapala X-Rap, 11cm Rapala Jointed, 13cm Rapala Original Floater, 7cm & 8cm Rattlin Rapala, and 10cm Rapala Long Cast were what I was getting them with that April. |
