Hi,
OOF -> I watched that video closely and saw that towing hawser stretch as it took a strain -> I know that hawser had to be making snap, crack, pop sounds as it tightened
Talk about DANGEROUS -> Lot of weight there plus having to tow up river against the current.
They got lucky that the "Stacy" didn't roll over as they pulled her off the bridge -> If it had the "Eugienia" could have gotten herself in what we call "In Irons (deep trouble as tugs have very little reserve bouyancy)". If that happened the "Eugenia" could easily have had her stern pulled underwater or the hawser snap like a rubber band.
You "DO NOT!" want to be any where on deck if that happens!

Not nice ff! to insinuate -> US Mariners are probited from drinking alcoholic beverages before and during their tour aboard any vessel!
The "Stacy" - small push tug - got turned by the very heavy current at a critical moment!

I don't think it's anything against Mariners, SD. US drivers are prohibited from drinking and it happens all the time. Not saying that's what happened here but I'm sure it happens. |

Hi DD,
Hear ya -> But being on the water is a Mariners job, it's what we do for a living -> so the USCG and Admiralty Courts really tighten the thumb screws down SUPER HARD on all alcohol violations
All the captains I've ever known have ZERO tolerance on the cosumption of any alcohol during ones tour of duty aboard a vessel.
Unlike a good many recreational boaters and yachties.
Is it not surprising that many recreational boating incidents (as yearly recorded by the USCG) are caused by the consumption of alcohol and that includes drugs.
It's the LAW -> If you drink Don't Drive -> and that goes for operating boats in particular!
FACT! -> Rescue units have 10 times more difficulty responding to water borne incidents than land incidents.
Me! -> I'm dry as a bone for the entire time I'm aboard a vessel -> even my own personal boat!
The only alcohol allowed aboard any vessel should be what's in your gasoline and swabs in your 1st Aid Kit!
Oh! FYI -> I usually don't fish on Opening Day -> Just drive around with a box of garbbage bags and pick up the trash, beer cans, and bottles left behind by the Slobs! ...... DISGUSTING

No disrespect meant SD! Just joking around as usual. I will say there are people in every profession whatever it may be that dont follow the rules though. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....
