Does anyone fish the naugatuck river for salmon-besides fly fishing, I would like to try it but I'm not sure how the bite is, where are the fishable spots, and what to use. Thanks for the help

I've seen reports from Beacon Falls in some of the deeper stretches of water. Inline spinners and spoons are good lures.

Review the DEP Web Site. All stocking times and locations are posted. I believe their last stocking was in November in the area of Pines Bridge Becon Falls and above the Dam in Seymour.

Hi ,

Better read the "Angler's Guide" to make sure you can use those -> Think they can only have a single hook -> No trebles!

Hi,

NO! They are "Atlantic Salmon" and either head down to the sea or die off because the water doesn't stay cold or deep enough!

You can use inline spinners just not treble hooks for salmon

^Yep. Swap the trebles for a single hook and no additional weight above the lure.

thanks for the help guys, do you know when they usually head down to the ocean? I have heard that there are some large/deep pools in the river do you think that could cause them to stay longer?

Kastmasters, phoebes or any of the inline spinners (blue fox, rooster tail ect...) will all give you a shot at both. Go with a middle of the road size. There are some big trout to be caught in the naugy too!

Sure are some good trout in the Naugy, Its a trophy trout stream. A few weeks ago I caught a 23" brown. That was the last fish I caught until today and I was really starting to feel that I was really sucking!!!!
