Hi,
Well I left my home in Winsted at 2:00 PM.
Oh! -> Was only suppose to get up to 32 F today -> NOPE -> Went up to 39 F. -> Not surprised, too sunny!
Drove first by Highland Lake -> 10 ft + of open water at the boat ramp and also left and right of it.
Went to Park -> No activity and open water edges 3-10 ft.
Didn't even go to Burr because I know that's gone!
Winchester Lake -> Fast ice to the ramp except to the right of ramp.
Polish Mafia (6 guys) fishing the front basin in front of the dam about 50 yds out.
They had traps spread far and wide apart.
Saw 2 flags while there -> only 1 with fish? pulled.
4 guys came off ice and said there was only 3-4 inches of ice anywhere they drilled a hole. -> NOT ME
Left at 3:45 PM
Ribeye Steak dinner tonight .......Yummmmm

Thanks for the report and update Seadog. Looks like ice fishing is done and over with this winter. Open water is what to look for now. |

Hi,
Kid your killing me! -> You say the funniest things -> Are you now a card carrying member of "Hard Water Fanatics Anonymous" -> You know? Those that will risk everything just to catch a stupid fish through a hole on questionable ice
Few others you say?....... Riiiiight !........ Here's what will be happening at Winchester tomorrow -> IF THE 3-4 INCHES OF ICE CAN HOLD UP TO THAT MUCH STRESS AND WEIGHT
OK -> Stay SAFE

To true SD, unless you live farther north, it's time to call it quits on the hard water bullcrap. It's just not worth it. Time put new line on your reels, sharpen hooks etc. |
