I went for a hike this weekend, brought my light spinning setup along as there are a few small ponds in the area. Most were shallow and loaded with branches and dead plants below the surface, so I tied on a small silver pop-r ~1.5” long. On my second cast it got absolutely annihilated by a ~14” pickerel! The tenacity of the fish really surprised me with such cold water. There was still ice on most of the pond, I was fishing in the northwest corner where there was a tiny feeder stream and about 40 feet of open water near shore. No strikes in the other spots I tried, but I did see a few swirls here and there. _________________ PB's:

That's awesome. More fun than hand lining one through a hole in the ice for sure. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
