there should be rain coming down the river hope it does not effect my favorite cove. I live pretty close to the cove. And people were catching lots of yellow perch today. it is the popular fish in keeney cove right now. When i might go to the cove I'll try to get some footage of some perch.

Yeah the water is getting cold over there and the bass action is definitely slowing down while the perch and pike should be picking up. I took a ride over there yesterday to check it out and saw a guy pull in a mud puppy. Those things are strange looking.

It looks like a big salamander. This one was about 12" to 14" long.

Not sure if it is a salamander or "like" a salamander. Nope...wasn't me on Saturday.

today was the last fishing report. And I guessed that they would show a picture of a perch on screen and it did. And the report says nothing about perch.

Kyle

The DEEP's fish consumption advice for the Connecticut River, including Keeney Cove, is that people in the high risk group (e.g., pregnant women and small children) should NOT eat ANY carp or catfish caught there. Even people in the low risk group should eat only one meal of carp per two months and one meal of catfish per one month. The primary contaminant there is PCBs.

For all other fresh water bodies and fish species, the DEEP says that people in the high risk group should limit their consumption to one meal per month for people in the high risk group and one meal per week for people in the low risk group. The primary contaminant there is mercury.
