Met up with my fishing buds Nick and Dan just before 5 and we were out on the water til about 20 after 6. It was windy. Water and air about 60 maybe a little colder. I started pitching in the sticks but there were no ticks so I tossed out the spinnerbait to start searching. First cast, Fish on! Small keeper. Second cast nada. Third cast, wham! Nice little Chunker 2.6. Nick then tied on a similar spinner and landed what ended up being the lunker at 2.12! Dan wasn't so lucky today. Here are a couple of pics.
We'll be back out there at 8 AM tomorrow if anyone wants to catch some bass with us...

Tim - you fished my home pond and didn't even call. It's less than a half mile from my house. |

Nice outing Tim, what's the weight on the second one? Might take the canoe to Hanover very soon. How's the water quality there?
Thanks

Two Johns in one thread
@hila John
Hanover is pretty nice. Not very big. A good portion of the middle of the pond is very very very shallow. It has some nice laydowns and a couple of creek channels as it is fed by the Quinnipiac and another river system as well. The place looks like it gets really trashed but some boy scouts will be cleaning it up this weekend. As for the weight, just got a new digi scale and I'm under the impression that it is not telling me oz but rather decimal of how many pounds? How to convert that to oz? Hmmm... I say this because that bass read 2.22. So I guess that makes it the lunker of the two trips on the 21st and 22nd even though Jarhead Nick aka Nick thinks his fish was bigger than mine (2.22 > 2.12 > 2.06). Sorry Nick. I win

To convert, just take the decimal and multiply by 16 (for ounces in a pound).
Ex: 2.22 lbs .22x16=3.52
Fish weight = 2lbs & 3.5ounces _________________ Go big or go home! |

Cool Tim, I wasn't sure about Hanover, heard it was pretty rough. Looks like a good largie spot for sure, plus it's not too far from Wolcott. Just have to strap down the canoe and go.
Thanks |
