...I've been able to do a little fishing lately, it's been nice. No where great, Valley Falls, Risley Res , but no luck, but I did manage to catch a 10 inch chain pickerel out of saulters pond in manchester, using a gold phoebe. The weather has been nice lately so it's been nice to just get out and enjoy it even though I haven't caught too much. Really going to set myself up this winter for next season. No more mr. nice guy! |

Hey man, its good to hear someone else is still out there!
I have been doing pretty well considering the water temp the last 3 weeks, but its still very slow out there.
Morey pond in union has still been giving me 2-3 lbers(bass). But you have to work for hours, very slowly, to get a couple bites. And some days you work hours,VERY slowly, with no bites. But I am so in denial about the season's end, I just keep trying.
How is saulters pond? I live in manchester and have been meaning to try it out. I have had a bit of luck with lots of little bass at Risley, and have hit some 3+ lb bass at union pond (manchester). But havent made it to saulters yet. Is it worth putting a small aluminum boat into? _________________ Am I obsessed, or is it normal to play with my lures every night? |

Saulters is too little for a boat, you can practically cast across it. lots of kids and older folks go there and use worms/bobbers during the season. I found going during the day or late evening is better. it's part of a park, with a trail and a couple of swimming pools. Risley, I'd love to get on there with a boat... I usually start at the benches and just wade in as far as I can get, I've caught bass, trout and pickerels in there. Not much luck by the dam area especially when a lot of people fish there. Last year when we had the drought the water was so low that you could see a rock wall someone made, it's off the shore accross from the benches. occaisonally their are people who put kayaks or inflatables. No luck where in bottle neckes up near the large parking area a lot of swimmers there.
Union pond, I have mixed feelings, I bet if I could get out with a canoe or something I'd have better luck. I get snagged all the time by the waterfall area, no luck by the wooden dock. I've seen people do some carp fishing there. I've tried over by the look out deck at northwest park there is a fallen tree that if you can cast to it it seems to produce. I usually walk the trail from the parking area and there is an opening that has produced a couple of bass. Union pons has icky water too.
There is another pond, that has a walk/bike trail over in the eastern part of manchester off of 44/6, I can't think of the name, but they had a fish kill last winter so I don't know how long it takes to revive.
I have fished the golf course, found out your' not supposed to but when I did, I've caught some really big pickerel...like arm length pickerel. it's too bad you can't fish there.
I live near east catholic, cheney tech area, maybe I'll see you out and about next season!! |
