Fished ash creek from around 12:30am til 4:15am this morning. High tide was around 1:00am. The place was dead til the water started to move out around 2:00am or so. Then fish started to break back there. I was using an eel with a 3" sluggo dropper 2' above the eel.Friend had just an eel. I Had several small hits, then Caught a 10" striper somewhere around 2:45am on the sluggo. Then we moved down current a bit to investigate the splashing noises around the bend. I ended up getting a light tap and set the hook into a much bigger fish around 3:30-3:45. Started pulling drag pretty nice. I figured it hit the eel but when i got it to shore i saw the eel was down near its back end and he was hooked on the 3" sluggo. Just barely in the side of the face and man did it bend the hook. 32"er! My friend got the skunk. Another couple bait fishers there had 1 around 3lbs, which i have a feeling they kept.

Thanks, I'm trying to beat 36"s as that is my biggest shore fish so far. It's rough finding the big girls in close to shore, @ least where i live.

Where do you fish on the creek? I've been catching all sorts of species at the mouth at St marys. Nothing that size though.

Fluke porgy striper. I've also seen blue and sea robin caught there. All in the channel from both sides.

Sent a reply pm. Fishing the incoming tide at the reef in the morning if anyone wants to join me. The state is out of sandworm. Going with lures and jigs with a little squid.

I fished ash creek last night from dead low at 9pm until about 11. When I got there, there were some fish breaking on the Fairfield side. I was at St Marys. I managed to catch a 1-1.5 lb blue on a brand new plug i bought from Jimmy O. before the rain came. I tried to fish through it, but I didn't get a single bite the whole hour I fished in the rain.
