NEWTOWN -- Six people were injured Tuesday night in a boating accident on Lake Zoar when a 21-foot ski boat carrying 11 passengers hit some rocks, authorities said.
The victims were brought on shore at Algonquin Trail and hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is investigating the incident, which happened between 11:30 p.m. and midnight.
State Environmental Conservation Police officers responded to the scene and were assisted by Newtown, Southbury and Oxford emergency services.
Oxford Fire Chief Scott Pelletier said his department dispatched a boat which arrived on the scene after the victims had been pulled from the water.
"We just double-checked the water and shoreline to make sure if there were any additional (victims)," Pelletier said.
The accident happened on the east side of the lake, near the northern boundary of Kettletown State Park, said Cyndy Chanaca, a spokeswoman for DEEP.
The six passengers transported to Danbury Hospital for medical evaluation were: Easton residents Anthony Buzzanca Jr., 22, William Sullivan, 22, and Thomas Lane, 21; Trumbull residents Kristen Paolino, 19 and Kara Yakosh, 20; and Burlington resident Hannah Cebry, 21, Chanaca said.
Others on the vessel were: Bethel resident Meghan Ledan, 20; Easton residents Ron Basak-Smith, 22, Jonathan Edwards, 21, and Dean Lorusso, 21; and Meghan Merritt, 22, of Lakeville.
State EnCon police, along with the state Boating Accident Reconstruction Unit, are investigating the boating accident. No further information was available Wednesday, Chanaca said.

Hmmmmm
"11 people" (all in their late teens /early twenties) in a 21 ft. fast ski-boat and late at night
Youth-Speed-Night time-Boat overloaded
Sounds like a recipe for disaster ?
Booze involved ? -> Yeah right ! -> Tell me "No" and I'll sell you a bridge in Brooklyn
So sorry to hear anyone got hurt !
Wonder who the captain of that boat was -> because he/she is in deep do-do
