My buddies and I have been going to this pond every may, for the last 10 years. Just about 2 years ago, I got way into bass fishn and found this pond to be a gold mine!
Full of 3,4,and 5 pounders! our average catch there is usually in the low 3's. We weigh em all on a berkly digital scale.
This year was the best trip yet! 3 of us hit 4+ pounders, and many of us were hitting plenty of 3+ pigs! all nice and fat. Nobody else (locals) care about bass up there so they just grow and grow.
It's a clear water, very rocky bottom, with 4 coves that all produce very well.Average depth is about 8ft, deepest point is 25ft. They were mostly up on beds, often solo (most likely allot of males) so I guess the spawn was just starting. Water temp 60-68 degrees. Most were hit on wacky senkos and texas rigged creatures. But my "live target" bluegill crank was producing well for me too. Top water poppers accounted for a few in the evening hours.
No five pounders this year but the way these guys grow, in a couple years there will be plenty in the 5's I bet.
I'll post some pics in the nest post! _________________ Am I obsessed, or is it normal to play with my lures every night? |

Cool! you should try some bass fishn next time your up there, cause Ive heard of many good bass lakes and ponds due to the interest being focused on trout and salmon up there. Bass are left alone.
Here are some pics of our catches.
