I just found this photo of Joe Nett, Sr. with the Connecticut State Record pike that he caught in Lake Lillinonah in 1980:
I don't want to start a poll, but does that fish look like it weighs 29 pounds to you? It doesn't to me. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter!

Hey, Dawg, don't go there. Mr. Nett passed away a few years back, but he still holds the State Record. I was just wondering whether anyone else thought that it looked kinda small. It must have been a real chunk. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter!

Not accusing the guy of cheating...it was my sarcastic way of saying it looks small. Of course it is a bad picture and the fish is bent in half with the tail hanging down too. I guess it also doesn't help that Mr. Nett looks like a pretty big guy.

Maybe someone can Photoshop it on some anorexic model and it could possibly be swallowing her!!! LOL Yep big fish aganst big guys could be a big problem just like when someone takes a small fish and holds it way in front of them for a pic which makes the fish look way bigger. _________________ There's a fine line between fishing....
I'm not judging anybody, but if somebody showed me that pic I would say that fish was around 15lbs. I've had a lot of fish around that size in my hands so I would consider myself a pretty good judge. Forget about the size of the guy, look at his hands, and look at the tire on the trailer for comparison. There is no way that fish weighs more than the one in my avatar! That fish looks 38" at best. Again, I hate to second guess a record, but that's my opinion. Look at my photo album for a reference. Not one of those fish was over 18lbs. _________________ Go big or go home!

I almost reposted the photo of you with your 41 incher for comparison, Damian. . . . _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter!
I just looked up the formula for the length=weight of pike. I checked it against the lengths and weights from some of my fish, and it was pretty acurate. Now I know this fomula is not gospel, but it gives you a pretty good idea for length vs weight. Well, a 29lb pike would be about 46"-47" long. Thats right, almost 4'! I know that fish in the pic is fat, but unless this guy is 8' tall, something smells a little fishy about this record.
I am going online to look for pictures of alleged 30lb pike. I'll post what I find. I am very curious myself to see just how big a pike of that weight is. _________________ Go big or go home!
